In Chapter Eight: The Battle of Starcourt, the eighth and final episode of the third season of the series, the characters of Hawkins’ face off against the Russians, the mind flayer, and their army of possessed humans in an epic, high-stakes battle that will determine the fate of their town and possibly the world.

In the end, the group manage to defeat the mind flayer and its army, and Hawkins is saved from certain doom. The characters are left to mourn their losses, but with the hope that they will be able to rebuild and move on from the horrors that they have faced.
